A pink laser bullet whizzed by dangerously close to his head. He could hear the grunts of his brother fighting only a few feet away. But in the midst of battle he could not glance over his shoulder to see how his brother was doing. While trying to keep busy saving his own shell he couldn't risk turning away from his enemies to see if his brothers were doing alright.

By the sounds of his brother he could tell that he was also too distracted by the battle to pay his brothers any mind. Though a few times the young leader did catch small momentary glimpses of his brother's red mask tails in between the metal and robotic bodies of their enemy. The Kraang.

It may be difficult to stay focused on his brothers for even the tiniest of second because of the fact that they were outnumbered and were being overpowered greatly. The leader of the four mutant reptiles grunted in pain as a laser blast from one of the Kraang's high tech laser guns grazed his shoulder. Even as he swung around to disarm the robot alien he could feel the warm wet liquid of his own blood beginning to trickle down his arm. He heard metal clash with metal and the loud clang as the robotic arm was sliced off the Kraang droids body. The gun that had been in the grip of the robot now slid out of its grasp and the turtle was able to slice off the robots head and it dropped like a rock and clattered to the ground.

The leader panted in exhaustion but had no time for rest as another wave of Kraang droids surrounded him. He mustered up his reserve energy and kept on fighting. Not wanting to let his brothers down. The leader, also the eldest of his brothers, knew that there would be more Kraang droids on the way. That no matter how hard they fought, they could never defeat them all. It was at times like these that his life flashed before his eyes. Remembering all the past battles with his enemies. He could still remember that first time he and his brothers had left the sewers. ON the same day they had seen the surface world for the very first time, they had their first encounter with the Kraang. They had seen the Kraang trying to kidnap two humans. That they had later learned had a bigger part in the Kraang's plans. The humans were April O'neil and her father, Kirdy O'neil. He was a scientist and the Kraang needed him to try and modify the mutagen they had brought to heard from their home dimension. The Kraang were not from earth. Or even their own universe really. They come from Dimension X. The Kraang had been kidnapping scientists all over New York and possibly the world so they would force these scientists to help modify the ooze to work as it is supposed to.

April O'neil on the other hand had the biggest role to play in the Kraang's invasion plans. She was the whole key to the invasion. As in without April then there would be no invasion if the Kraang did not have her. They had just recently found out about her half Kraang origin. The news had shocked them all. Especially April herself. Suddenly knowing you were a half human, half alien mutant was pretty hard on her. But she's slowly excepting it.

He also remembered all his time with his brothers. He remembered the good times. Like when he and his brothers played with they were little. To the bad times when one of them got sick or like when their youngest brother had broken his arm when they were only little tots. But mostly he remembered, and regretted, the times he fought with his brothers. All those times the he am his immediate younger brother had gotten into big fights. There would be name calling and lashing out at each other. He remembered all those times when one had almost killed the other. He remembered his not being able to sleep the nights after he had a fight with his brother.

Remembering all these things reminds him that there is always a tomorrow. And the new day would bring forth a whole new world of possibilities. But of course that only mattered if you could stay alive long enough to live tomorrow. During his thoughts he had not even realized that he had destroyed all the Kraang droids that had surrounded him only moments ago. Finally he was able to take a quick breather and was able to look around to see how his brothers were doing. The ground was a mess of broken down robot bodies and robotic parts that were so mangled you couldn't even tell what they were supposed to be anymore.

he caught the sight of his Red banded brother furiously lashing out at any Kraang droids that came anywhere closer then ten feet of him. That's one brother accounted for. Now he looked around for the other two. Though he could hear the heavy steps of more Kraang droids coming, his gaze drifted over the mass of robots. Suddenly his Bo-Staff wielding brother was in sight. The purple banded turtle skillfully spun his weapon while taking down any robot that came into his weapons reach while also dodging every laser shot at him. That's two brothers accounted for. Now to find the youngest brother.

His gaze drifted over the growing mass of robots and his breath hitched in his throat when he could not locate his youngest brother. He tried to fight down his panic and managed to shout out his brothers name.

"MIKEY!" he screamed above the noise of battle, hoping his little brother could hear him. His heart fluttered in relief when he heard Mikey's reply and saw that youngest turtle jumping up over the robots and doing a flip in mid-air while also taking out at least three Kraang droids with his Nunchuck at the same time. He was about to go help his brother with the many Kraang droids that were now coming at him when he stopped when he saw Mikey's face turn into an expression of horror. The older one followed his brother's gaze and turned around.

There only a few feet away the trans-dimensional portal was sparking. Most likely it had taken a few laser shits to it by accident along with his smartest brother's creative rewiring he did before the battle was causing it to do so.

Before he could react, there was a blinding light and a sharp electronical shock coursed through him. The last thing he remembered was his brother's horrified scream calling out to him.

 "Leo...."

And then everything went dark.

 Mikey's P.O.V

I widen my eyes in terror as my big brother is engulfed by the explosion. A moment later I feel the force of the explosion myself and I am flung off my feet. I slam into several Kraang droids and finally hit the wall. I felt and heard them smashing behind me as they were slammed in between the wall and my shell. Well I guess that's where the expression 'saved by the shell' comes from.

My legs are wobbly at first but I adjust to it and lean against the wall for support. I feel coughed racking my body and stinging my throat as I realized that some grit and smoke must had entered my lungs when the explosion happened. Once my coughs had subsided a little I looked around and saw most of the Kraang droids had been destroyed by the blast as well and the I caught sight of two of my brothers. My Donatello was just beginning to stand up, using his Bo-staff as a support beam.

Then my eyes darted around for my more short-tempered brother, Raphael.  I caught sight of him climbing out from under a pile of what now looked like spare parts but had no doubt been the Kraang droids Raph had been battling. Only when Raph was completely out from under the pile of rubbish did I dare to look back to where Leo, my oldest brother and my leader, had been standing before the explosion.

I feel my heart plummet to the pit of my stomach and it felt like I was going to be sick. My big brother isn't there! or at least I can't see him there. My legs suddenly felt weak and almost jello-like. And they collapse under me. As I stared at the lifting cloud of smoke with still no sign of my brother my eyes began to blur and sting.

I jump in surprise when I felt a hand on my shoulder and automatically punched out only by instinct. My fist was caught however. And I open my eyes and see that it was Raph. My eyes, already filled with nears, shut tight and I felt my tears run down my cheeks.

"Mikey what's wrong? Are you okay?" I heard Raph say but I don't look up at him. I just want this nightmare to end already. Or at least I hoped it was just a nightmare. Well even if it wasn't it should be because it's seriously freaking me out big time over here.

I took a few deep breaths to try and steady my breathing and calm down slightly. By the time I had collected myself Donnie had come over. I look at them both before turning back to the vanishing smoke. Only a smoggy mist now hung in the air but I still caught no sign of my brother. So I turned back to my other brothers who were waiting for my response.

Taking a deep breath I explained everything to them and watched as their faces turned from concern to horror at what I was telling them. That our big brother Leo was taken by the explosion and that there were not traces of him left. Or at least from where I was at the moment I could see nothing.

Me and my brothers spend the next few minutes searching through the ruble while calling out our brothers name. But after a few minutes we finally came to the horrible realization.

Leonardo, our leader, our big brother, was gone.

End of Mikey's P.O.V

_____________________________________________________________________
Something prodded at his side and caused the half unconscious turtle to moan in irritation. The prodding didn't stop and he tried to use his elbow to push it away. Suddenly he felt a sharp jab in his side and he jumped with a yelp. His eyes shot open and he stared around wildly.

He heard a small gasp of surprise and turned around to see a small girl with a cattle prod in her hand. Her eyes were round and curious as she looked at the large turtle creature in front of her. Though her skin had a bluish ting to it. Leo wondered if she had that condition that made your skin blue.

"uum hi?" he tried and braced himself for the little girl's scream. But instead she gave a little bounce and a smile spread across her face.

 "You can talk?!"

 "Yeah...so can you."

The little girl giggled and bounced closer to the turtle. "Are you an alien?" she asked with a smile.

Leo thought for a moment. Wondering whether or not he should tell her but then decided that she probably wouldn't freak out and he shook his head. "No."

The girl tilted her head and stared him up and down. "You sure? I mean you look like an alien. You kinda look like one of the aliens my daddy always talks about."

"Huh?" Leo said in confusion. "Your dad?"

The little girl nodded enthusiastically. "And mommy does too. But when I ask them about the aliens daddy tells me they aren't aliens. He has tons of things and pictures for them and when he shows me they look like aliens."

"Is your...daddy or mommy home now?" Leo asked.

She shook her head. "Their over at the big work building. My mommy's a scientist and my daddy owns it. He's also really smart too."

Leo looked around. This place seemed strangely familiar but...different. But he couldn't place from where. he turned back to the girl and then stood up. His legs wobbled slightly at first and he looked down at the little girl. Her hair was a little purple. She looked about five years of age. "Where are we exactly?"

"In my living room duh." she chuckled. Leo rolled his eyes.

"No I mean do you know what this city is called?" he asked.

The little girl stared at him and then thought for a moment. "It's...New York or something."

"Where in New York?" he asked. But she just shrugged. Leo sighed and walked over to the window to see if he recognized any of the landscape. Though when his eyes drifted over the tops of buildings and the vehicles flying by his heart nearly stopped. This was familiar. Too familiar. Leo turned to look at the girl. "Um...What year is it?"

The girl frowned. "Don't you know?"

Leo shook his head. "I um...lost track."

 "Oh. It's 2135." she said.

 Leo's eyes widened. "2135?!"

She nodded and cocked her head at him. "Why do you sound so surprised?"

"Um...long story...How long until your parents get back?" Leo asked nervously.

"They should be back soon. Their work is over now. Or at least my mommy should be home soon. Daddy has to stay and do office work," the little girl said.

"Alright well it was nice talking to you but I gotta go." Leo said and rushed for the door. the door swung open and he crashed into someone. They both barrelled to the ground. Leo couldn't see anything fore it was like 10:00 at night and all the lights were off for whatever reason.

Leo heard a scream and then he was kicked off the person he had crashed into. The kick was strong and sent him sprawling across the room and almost crashing into a window.

Leo grunted as he tried to get up but someone slammed a foot on him and he gasped as he was pushed back down. Leo's head spun and he could here the little girl screaming. Leo's eyes closed halfway and he felt like he was going to pass out.

"Who are you?! If you've done anything to my daughter then you'll be sorry." a slightly familiar voice said.

Leo groaned and tried to turn his head but it hurt too much.

"Honey get the lights." He heard the voice instruct and he was almost blinded by the sudden light. Leo hissed and closed his eyes. he heard a slight gasp and the foot was lifted off him. "Leo? Is that you?!"

Leo opened his eyes and blinked against the light. He let out a moan as he rolled himself onto his shell and propped himself up on an elbow. The other hand was placed on his bleeding arm. he could see blood smeared on the ground from when he had tumbled. Then his eyes drifted to the blue woman that stood in front of him. Her gray eyes were wide as she stared at him. And her dark blue hair ran down her back. Leo couldn't believe his eyes.

 "Starlee?" he ventured.

The woman broke out into a smile and jumped down and hugged him. "Leo it is you! Wait..." she pulled back and stared at him. "What are you doing here? No...How are you here?"

"Well...I don't really know." Leo said as Starlee helped him up. The little girl came up to them and looked up at Starlee.

"Mommy? You know him?" she asked.

Leo looked at her. "She's your daughter?"

Starlee smiled and picked up the girl. "This is Rory. Rory this is Leonardo."

Rory smiled wide and waved. "Hi."

Leo looked at her then up at Starlee. "Well you look....different." he said awkwardly.

"And you look practically the same." she said. "I haven't seen you in thirty years."

"Oh right. This is thirty years from when I left the future. Though for me it was only about three years." Leo said.

"Cody should be home soon. Why don't you wait until he gets back to tell us how exactly you came to be here?" Starlee suggested.

"Well since I have nowhere to go so I don't see why not." Leo said.

"...And Mikey's still just Mikey. Crazy as ever." Leo finished. He had been telling Starlee how his brothers were doing. Rory listened with anticipation as she heard about Leo's family.

They heard the door opening. Rory jumped out of her seat and ran to meet her father as he came in.

"Daddy daddy! Guess what?!" she said bouncing up and down smiling.

Cody laughed and picked her up in his arms, bouncing her up and down. "What is it Rory? Your not usually this happy."

Rory pointed to the living room. "Look who's here! Look who's here!"

Cody frowned in confusion and set her down. She grabbed his hand and began pulling him towards the living room. She pointed towards the sofa where his wife and a familiar mutant turtle sat.

Cody's eyes widened in shock and surprise. "Leo?! How did you get here?"

Leo smiled at seeing Cody again. even though he was older now he was still the same old Cody Jones.

Leo stood up and met Cody and Rory half way. "hey Cody. You've grown up."

Cody chuckled. "And you haven't grown at all by the looks of it."

Leo huffed. "I grew a little. It was three years ago."

"Well to me its been thirty years. How are you?" Cody asked and led him back to the sofa. his eyes landed on Leo's arm, which was now bandaged up. Though you could still see the red blotch of blood where it had leaked through. "What happened to your arm?"

Leo looked down at his arm. "Nothing. We were in a fight with the Kraang and one of their laser bullets just grazed it."

"Does it hurt?" Cody asked taking a better look at it.

"Not much anymore. Starlee treated the wound already." Leo explained. His eyes widened. "My brothers! We were in the middle of a battle. There was an explosion and then I was here! Shell I hope nothing happened to them."

Cody frowned. "I'm sure their fine."

An idea crossed Leo's mind. "Wait! You can send me back!"

Cody looked into his eyes. "huh?"

"The time window! you can send me back can't you?!" Leo insisted, his smile faded when he saw Cody's frown. "What's wrong?"

"Leo that was thirty years ago. I haven't worked on it in years and I doubt it still works." Cody said.

Leo frowned. "Well...can't you fix it?"

 "I can try."

"Please Cody. I really need to get back," Leo that desperately.

Cody exchanged a glance at Starlee. Then looked back to Leo. "Why don't you get some sleep? I'll look at it tomorrow and see if it still works."

Leo sighed in relief. "Thanks Cody."

"But be prepared to stay here for a few days in case I have to work on it a bit. remember I still have a company to run." Cody said.

Starlee walked over to Cody. "I'll look after the company. you help Leo get home." Cody looked at her, unsure for a moment. "Aw come on sweetie. It wouldn't be the first time."

Cody sighed in defeat. "Alright. But I'll start tomorrow. Is that alright with you Leo?"

 Leo nodded.

"Great. You don't mind sleeping on one of the sofa's do you? the guest bed rooms are full of boxes and junk." Cody said while he ran a hand through his hair.

"I live in a sewer remember." Leo joked.

___________________________________________

Yawning, Leo stretched his arms and legs out as far as they could before opening his eyes. The moment he did so he didn't recognize the roof and panicked. leaping up to his feet his gaze darted around the room. His body relaxed when he remembered what had happened a week ago but then his stomach had a gnawing feeling. He had been gone for a week but every night he's woken up feeling like something was wrong. He never remembered he was back to the future until after. But who knows if he'll ever get back. Last time he was stuck in the future at least he had his brothers with him. But he doesn't know if Cody will be able to get the time window to work. It took months to get it working last time. And Cody says he's never worked on it since then.

These thoughts kept running through his head. What if he'll never get back? Would he ever see his family again? What if they thought he was dead? Leo could only imagine the look of hurt on Master Splinter's face as Leo's brothers trudged in. heads down and one of them having to tell him that Leo wasn't coming back. That he had been blown to nothing in the middle of the battle.

Leo felt his eyes watering up and he sat back down. Burying his head in his hands. He heard the sound of tiny footsteps approaching him. Leo looked up when he felt a tiny poke on his arm. He saw Rory standing there. Staring at him.

Leo tilted his head and she tilted her head. He blinked. She blinked. Leo sighed. He heard her sigh and looked at her. A little smile etched its way onto his face. His thoughts of his family vanished just like that.

"Rory right?" he asked to clarify. She nodded vigorously. "How old are you?" she held up five fingers.

"This much." she said as she waved her hand up at him.

Leo smiled and held his arms out. She smiled and jumped up onto his lap, giving him a little hug. Leo smiled down at her. For some reason he was having a terribly hard time remembering things. Yesterday he hadn't even recognized Cody or Starlee.

"Leo..." she started slowly. Leo tilted his head.

 "Yes?"

"Do you miss your family?" she asked.

Leo sighed and nodded. "Yes. I miss them very much."

Rory frowned. "Are you sad? I don't want you be sad."

Leo hugged Rory tight. "I'm alright. Really."

Rory didn't smile though. "Do you miss your daddy?" she asked.

Leo froze. He really didn't want to talk about his father for it would probably just make him become upset. So he only nodded. Leo looked over his should at the sound of Starlee skating in on her roller-skates. Same old Starlee. Rory jumped down off Leo and ran to her mother and hugged her leg. Starlee picked her up and made her way over to Leo.

 "Morning Leo." she said.

"Hey Star." Leo yawned. "Hey where's Cody at anyways?"

Starlee frowned. "He's been working in the laboratory all night. How about we go check on him?"

Leo stood up. "Alright." he followed Starlee and Rory out of the room. He slightly remembered the way. Everything was so different then it had been when he had last been here. Obviously they've been renovating. Leo saw the familiar lab doors and followed Starlee as she pushed it open and led the way inside.

Cody looked like he hasn't slept in a while. Leo knew that look. The way his eyes were bloodshot from staring at computer screens and how his eyelids drooped as he worked. The way his shoulders sagged from exhaustion. He had seen his own brother, Donatello, like this many times.

Thinking about his brother, Leo felt a pang of loss in his stomach again. They made their way over to Cody. He looked up from typing on the panel of the time window. His face brightened.

"Your just in time. I think I've gotten it." he said excitedly.

Leo almost bounced in happiness. "Really? Can we test it now?"

Cody nodded and pulled a lever. The time window suddenly sprung to life. It sparked on and a portal opened. Leo stared into it. His eyes filling with tears. There was his family. They were all sitting in a circle. His brothers and father. Along with April and Casey. They all had their eyes closed and their heads hung down in depression. Leo could see tears stained onto their faces. Of course, their eyes were closed and they were completely oblivious to the portal that was now a few feet away.

Leo wiped a tear from his eye and turned to Cody. "Thank you."

Cody smiled. "It was great seeing you again. Though I wished we could have spent more time together."

 Leo nodded. "Yeah."

Rory pried herself from her mothers arms and ran to Leo. Hugging him. "Do you really have to go?" she whined.

Leo smiled sadly. "Yes. Afraid so little one."

Rory had tears in her eyes. "Why? You can stay here and live with me, mommy and daddy."

"I'm sorry Rory. But I have to go." Leo said.

"And you'd better do it fast!" Cody suddenly said. Leo looked over to him and realized he was back by the panel. "I don't know how much longer I can keep this thing opened."

Leo looked over the three of them. Rory let go and let her mother give Leo a quick hug before letting go. "You should go." she said quietly.

Leo nodded. "Thank you...for everything. I am so happy I got to see you all again. Please. Take care." he said.

"Leo! You have to go. Now!" Cody said in panic. He was practically clicking every button over there trying to keep the portal open.

Leo nodded and without another word he jumped into the portal and it closed behind him.

_______________________________________________________________

Leo landed with a loud thud on the hard floor. He propped himself up, rubbing his head.

"Leo?!" a surprised gasp greeted him. Leo looked up to see that all of his family was turned and looked straight at him. Their eyes slick with tears. Mikey stood and stumbled towards him in his rush. Mikey flung himself at Leo and cried into him. Leo felt his shoulder become wet and he gave Mikey a tight hug.

"Leo." Mikey cried. "We thought you were dead. I...I saw you...the explosion...how?"

Leo looked down at Mikey's eyes. Light seemed to be returning to the dulled eyes of his younger brother. "How about we all sit down and I'll tell you the whole story?"

After his family had settled down slightly Leo took a deep breath and started from where the explosion happened to right now. His family looked at him in shock.

"You saw Cody?" Raph asked. Leo nodded.

"How was he doing?" Donnie asked.

"Oh he's great. He's married to Starlee and they have a daughter now." he explained.

 Splinter smiled. "That is wonderful."

"Yeah...So I've been meaning to ask. How long was I gone?" Leo asked. He knew that he may not have been sent back at the exact time of when he left.

His brothers exchanged a glance before Donnie looked at him. "You've been gone a month."

Leo's eyes widened. "A month? I was only gone for like a week."

"Remember that this is time we're dealing with here. Cody might nit have been able to send you anywhere else." Donnie said.

"You are probably confused at what we were doing at the time of when you showed up?" Splinter said. Leo nodded. "It is simple really. We thought you were dead. So every week we honored your spirit."

Leo gave a small smile. "Well I'm glad I was able to get back. I almost never made it."

Mikey chuckled. "Well next time you decide to go to the future leave us a note."

Raph smacked him on the head but laughed. Leo looked around at his family. A smile spread across his face. Sure it was great to go back to the future and see Cody and Starlee again. But Leo could never ask for anything more than to be in his own time. With his own family. He let out a breath that he had been holding in for the past couple of days and welcomed his families warm embrace. Life was good.

THE END.

It was cute, but I'm slightly confused...
Cody Jones is a character from the 2003 TMNT series...
The Kraang are from the 1987 and 2012 series...
?
